Thinking Day is slated for February 22.  Click here to be directed to GSUSA's website and a thorough listing of age-appropriate activities for girls of all ages.

Plant Those Trees
Dear Tree Planters,

The NJ Tree Foundation is offering free two-year-old trees to volunteers groups in NJ. If you would like to celebrate Arbor Day in your community by planting a tree(s) - go to www.newjerseytreefoundation.org to download an application.

Arbor Day is typically celebrated on or about April 30th and is a great way to provide another outdoor environmental experience. Most communities also have "Shade Tree Commissions" and you could contact them to have a member speak to your troop or Service Unit.

Good luck and happy planting.

Presentation at Princeton on Tap
Sex, Lies, and Video Games: The Truth About Females and Computing

on

January 18th, 2006 - 12 noon to 1:15 pm, EST

Frist Multipurpose Room

Princeton University

This talk explores how girls and women differ from boys and men in their uses of and attitudes towards computers and computing. From playing computer games to pursuing computing careers, the participation of females tends to be very low compared to that of males. Why is this? Opinions range from girls wanting to avoid the math and/or the geek image of programming to girls having better things to do with their lives. We discuss research findings on this issue, as well as initiatives designed to increase the participation of females in computing.

If you or your troop leaders have any questions, please feel free to contact us:
