| Octoberfest Weekend
a Rousing Success |
MIDDLEVILLE -- Nearly 75 women from throughout
GSWRC's 25-community jurisdiction and beyond descended upon
Camp Lou Henry Hoover the weekend of Oct. 19-21 for Octoberfest, a weekend
chock full of rest, relaxation, fun and enrichment. The weekend got
underway Friday night as participants began to unwind and escape from the
everyday rigors of their lives with a sampling of German beers. Saturday began
with breakfast before the group attended a multitude of workshops including
canoeing on Swartswood Lake, horseback riding, origami, stamping, wreath making, yoga and
much more. While not at these workshops the women had time to bond
with each other and soak up all that nature had in store for them. The
evening concluded with dinner and a sing-along filling the Cohen Center with
jubilant sounds of past and present Girl Scout songs. Before the
ladies knew it, Sunday morning arrived, signaling the conclusion of a
fantastic and enjoyable weekend on the camp's picturesque 340 acres.
