What is the League of Women Voters?

The League of Women Voters
is a non-partisan, political, grassroots volunteer organization. It does not support nor endorse any political party or candidate. It is issues oriented.

It is a national organization which arose in 1920 from the womens' suffrage movement. 2000 is its 80th Anniversary! It operates on a national, state and local level. It examines issues and takes action based on the votes of its grass roots membership on those issues.

The League's  all-encompassing goal is the education of the public on issues and on the importance of each citizen's involvement in the political process in order for democracy to work

Membership is open to anyone of voting age.

The Westfield Area League encompasses the communities of WESTFIELD, SCOTCH PLAINS, FANWOOD AND MOUNTAINSIDE.

For local membership and program information, call (908) 654-8628. For voting and voter registration call the League hotline at 1-800-792-VOTE.
