The Musical Club of Westfield, founded in 1915, is an organization devoted to fostering and encouraging good music, providing opportunities for performance, and supporting college music scholarships.
Musical Club performances are held the second Wednesday of the month, in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Westfield which allows the use of their organ and/or a Steinway piano given to the Club by the late Mrs. Janet Grimler Gleason. These meetings are open to the public. Click on the eighth note to see the upcoming Musical Club programs.
General memberships are in two categories: active, and associate. Active members perform and must audition. Associate members are an important part of our audience. Every member is expected to support the club through its biennial Scholarship Concert and fund drive. Click on the note to the left to learn more about joining the club.
An important aspect of the Musical Club's work is sponsorship of a very active and exceptional Junior Musical Club, which is composed of high school musicians. The advisors for this group are Beverly Thomson Shea, btspiano@gmail.com and Lubove Schnable, luba519@aol.com, (or phone (908) 322-1845).   ......   click the eighth note for more.
The Musical Club makes available scholarships to gifted high school students wishing to pursue their music studies at the college level. If you have knowledge of a student from Westfield and surrounding communities who could benefit from these scholarships, please contact Clarissa Nolde at cnoldestudio@hotmail.com or Sondra Tammam at jtammam@aol.com.
