10:00 A.M. -- Opening Ceremony
10:30 A.M. -- Session 1
1:30 P.M. -- Session 2

The Conestoga Wagon Derby gives you the opportunity to pull together as a team and to demonstrate skills learned during the year. Teams of about 6 - 8 scouts of your same rank will build a Conestoga Wagon under the supervision of an adult volunteer. You'll stock the wagon with items that you may need along the trail, such as hammers, screwdrivers, a first aid kit, a flag, rope, paper and pencils, blankets, etc.

On April 28th, you'll set out on the Conestoga Trail. Your team will hauls its wagon from one town to another along the trail. When you get to town, you'll find the Town Mayor waiting for you. He will ask your team to perform certain tasks. These tasks are things you have learned this past year in Cub Scouts. Most of the tasks will be taken from the Achievement portion of your rank handbook.

Some of you may be better at a given task than others. Work together! Figure out who is best equipped to help the Mayor. Do everything the Mayor asks of you, and you'll be rewarded with gold nuggets! The Mayor will award the team up to 11 gold nuggets based upon:
    1. how well your team did in helping the Mayor with his work
    2. team manners and behavior while in town
    3. team spirit and cooperation

Remember to do everything you can to help the Mayor, even if it doesn't seem important or related to the task at hand. You never know what you may need on the trail ahead!

Be on Guard! An unexpected challenge may await you on the trail. Work together as a team and you will overcome any and all difficulties that cross your path.

Parents Beware! Parents may follow their team around the trail. However, once a team enters a town, parents may not assist or direct the team in any way. Any adult helping the scouts with tasks in the towns will forfeit the wagon team 6 nuggets.

Each Cub who participates will receive a patch. Each wagon will receive a streamer for the den flag. Trophies will be awarded at the end of the day to the 1st and 2nd place winners of each Rank.
