MISSION STATEMENT
Parishioners having fun playing basketball in a Christian environment where good sportsmanship is instilled in all the players.
ELIGIBILITY
St. Helen's Parishioners from grades 3 thru 8.
Usually the league has 3 coed divisions , 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-8th, consisting mainly of boys.
Every player is guaranteed to play 1/2 a game regardless of ability.
Teams are selected by draft after a practice session/clinic to ensure balanced teams.
All players must be evaluated before being selected on a team.
Every child that registers will be placed on a team.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
All parents must assist the coordinators in some aspect(snack bar, set-up,cleanup, officiating) and will be required to manage the gym for 1 morning/afternoon session during the season
COACHES
Head coaches will be selected by experience and active participation in other St. Helen's activities. High school students that have participated in our program will be needed as assistant coaches. An adult must manage the team. High school students wishing to coach should fill out an application form and mail it to Richie Hughes.
GAMES
Games will begin in January and run thru the playoffs in Mid-March.
Games are usually played on weekends at the Parish Center.
There is usually a practice one night a week.
We do our best to schedule Parish League games around scheduled St Helen's CYO games. Schedules will not be changed for players on teams outside of St. Helen's.
We conclude our season with our League Pizza Night.
