Funds in the Westfield Foundation

The Westfield Foundation maintains three basic types of funds: unrestricted funds; endowment, temporarily restricted and donor-advised funds; and managed funds.

UNRESTRICTED FUNDS are funds established by donors in which the donor gives to the Foundation Board of Trustees the decision as to where fund income will be spent.  These funds allow the Trustess to use the income for current needs through the ongoing grants program of the Foundation.

ENDOWMENT, TEMPORARILY RESTRICTED AND DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS
allow Donors to indicate that the funds be spent for a specific purpose, such as child welfare, aid for the homeless, civic improvement, the arts or educational scholarships.

MANAGED FUNDS are created at the request of non-profit organizations to support their activities.  The Foundation manages such money for consistency and safety.  In addition, investing in a large pool helps to keep management and administrative fees low, allowing for greater growth.
