About the Schools


WESTFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS has 9 schools (6 elementary for grades K-5; 2 intermediate for grades 6-8 and 1 high school for grades 9-12).

In the 2003-2004 school year, the district employed more than 735 staff members. There are approximately 555 professional staff members for 5,813 students, with the average elementary class size at 20 students per teacher.

Students perform well on mandated tests, scoring well above state and national levels.

The high school offers more than 175 courses to its 1,624 students and more than 60 extra-curricular activities.  Forty-seven percent (47%) of WHS students are enrolled in one or more honors/advanced placement courses and 80% join in extra-curricular activities.  In the Class of 2003, 94% of the graduates continue their education, with 84% going to four-year colleges.
