About the Town

WESTFIELD, NEW JERSEY, which traces its history to pre-Revolutionary days, offers a unique blend of respect for tradition and vision for the future.

It is an attractive, residential suburban community approximately 6.7 square miles in size and about an hour-long drive from New York City and the Jersey shore.

Its residents (many at socio-economic levels well above national averages) are concerned with the quality of education for young people. They have high educational aspirations for their children and high expectations for their school system. Citizens are active in the community and its schools as volunteers. Westfield residents traditionally support school budgets.

In 2000 a $14.9 million bond referendum was passed by voters.   These funds are being used for additional classrooms and improvements at the high school and various capital improvements throughout the district.
